Decades ago I was in Thailand on business. I had to go there to take photos, I thought. I travelled from Bangkok to the north. First to Chiang Rai, along the Mekong, to Chiang Mai, Pai, Khon Kaen, Korat and then back to the capital. In addition to exotic birds and butterflies, there were interesting landscapes to see. Rice and pineapple fields, banana and tea plantations. The many markets beckon with laden tables offering a huge range of products - fish, meat, vegetables, spices. There is a freshly cooked food stall on almost every corner. In some places, the locals get together in the evenings to eat and chat at length. The streetscape is characterised by stalls, crowds of people and scooters - which not only transport the whole family at once, but also loads that would take a lorry here. An exciting country. I met a lot of interesting people and am taking many impressions home with me.
