Hamburg, the important North German port city, is connected to the North Sea via the Elbe. The city is criss-crossed by canals and has extensive parks and green spaces. Boats sail on the Binnenalster lake near the centre, framed by numerous cafés. The harbour, Reeperbahn, Jungfernstieg and the Michael are a few of the many tourist attractions. The most beautiful city in Germany after Munich and Dresden, I would say. You can easily spend a day at the harbour alone. Elbphilharmonie concert hall, Alter Elbtunnel, Speicherstadt, the nearby Reeperbahn, coffee roasters, carpet dealers. There's something on offer here. Harbour tours or the Miniatur Wunderland are a must. Photo opportunities everywhere.
